I am trying my best to understand and properly use this new “social media” thing. It sounds great and, quite frankly, I like remaining in contac tiwht people. However, it seems as if we might be taking this a little too far.At Financial Focus, right now I use Twitter. My address to financialfocus1. I am only on this becasue my daughter set up an account for me. It took a while to see what is going on, but now I am getting the hang of it.Very rarely will you see a tweet from me that is personal. Most of mine are tweets that are intended to help people with their finances or share financial news with them. What I see from many other businesses is a bombardment of messages. Sometimes I wonder how these people can get any work done. Unless they have some assistant typing their messages, they are wasting much of their time. The others – TMI!! I really do not care that you are getting your hair done, going to bed or getting up. In the same manner, why do we have to see your personal messages to your friends – your followers could care less. (I think they have not quite learned how to send a private message). There is nothing wrong with the social media craze. Just make sure you manage it and it does not manage you!
